About me

Matt is Associate Dean of Engagement and Director of the Perceptual Expertise Advanced Research Lab (The PEARL) at Murdoch University. His research applies cognitive psychology to understand and improve expert decision making in emergency services, law enforcement, and the justice system. With research fellowships at The University of California and Harvard Medical School, his work has been supported by over $1.5 million in competitive funding. Matt works directly with organisations including Fire and Emergency Services, State and Federal Police, and Government to translate research findings into practical training and assessment programs.
