Dr Md Moazzem Hossain, PhD (Curtin), CA, CPA, CMA, MIPA, AFA, FHEA is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting (equivalent to Associate Professor in North American system)at the Murdoch University. He is a seasoned philanthropy, social responsibility sponsorship, business development and CSR consultant with extensive experience developing ESG programs, effective communications and strategic partnerships from a range of perspectives. Dr Hossain is an award wining accounting academic who has been awarded for his innovative research and outstanding teaching and learning for both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Recently, he has been received prestigious PVC award 2020 for excellence in teaching and learning. Earlier, Dr Hossain has won Murdoch Business School excellence in Teaching and Learning award in 2016, 2018, 2019.
He received his PhD in Accounting from Curtin University, Perth, Australia. Earlier, he completed a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Ballarat. Dr Hossain joined Murdoch University in November 2013. Prior to this, he worked as a sessional academic at Curtin University and Edith Cowan University, Perth (2010-2013). Before moving to Australia, he worked as an accounting academic at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2003-2007) Dr. Hossain has more than 16 years academic experience and taught a broad range of accounting units including Financial Accounting, Auditing, Accounting Theory and Governance, Corporate Accounting, Management Accounting, Social and Environmental Financial Performance, and Technology and Accounting Processes in multicultural settings. He has held various administrative and leadership roles include a member of the academic council, academic misconduct committee, and a member of the university education committee.
Dr Hossain’s work examines sustainability/CSR and social & environmental initiatives and projects across multinational enterprises (MNEs) and organisations in developing & developed countries, including stakeholder engagement in these projects. From this, he has designed research & models relevant to: MNES, SMEs, NFPs, NGOs, social enterprises and government departments.
Dr Hossain also works on stakeholder engagement and assessment, plus sustainable CSR project implementation & strategy development throughout the supply chain. This is a collaborative approach, partnering with NGOs, government, sustainable enterprises & social projects – all stakeholders – within the settings they occupy. He has conducted research with CSR ASIA and explored sustainability barometer of Australian companies.
He has published scholarly papers in the international reputed journals and conference proceedings. Dr Hossain has published a number of scholarly articles, including those from his PhD in the A*/A/Q1-category journals (ranked by ERA/ABDC/Scimago) including Education and Training, Journal of Management Control, Meditari Accountancy Research, Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, Local Government Studies, and Safety Science.
