About me
I am an Associate Professor specialising in higher education careers, especially those of professional staff; I also have a particular interest in gender equity. My research builds evidence that challenges how professional staff careers are understood and supported. My aim is to improve how professional staff are viewed within the academy and to help people shape careers that reflect what matters to them.
My research has been published in leading journals and with respected publishers, including a book with Palgrave Macmillan, three book chapters, and multiple journal articles in Q1 / top 10% / A-rated (Australian Council of Business Deans [ACBD]) journals, including Gender, Work and Organization (Q1, top 10%, ACBD=A), Studies in Higher Education (Q1, top 10%, ACBD=A), and Career Development International (Q1, top 10% ACBD=A). I am a Senior Editor for Career Development International and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management, as well as a reviewer for several other high quality journals. I also peer review for conferences including ANZAM and EURAM. I am an Australian Research Council peer assessor.
I have an extensive background in leadership in Australia and the UK and I work in collaboration with industry and professional associations. I continue to enhance my professional management practice as a non-executive director of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML).
My work contributes to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG4 Quality Education | SDG5 Gender equality | SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth
