About me

Professor Norman Palmer is a biochemist by background and was the Special Projects Director of the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science, Western Australia's oldest medical research institute, and Director of UWA’s Centre for Neuromuscular and Neurological Disorders (CNND) from 2012 - 2022. From 2019 to the end of 2022, he was the Deputy Director of the Personalised Medicine Centre (formerly Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics, CMMIT), a joint research centre of Murdoch University and the Perron Institute. He now holds the position of Special Projects Director at the Personalised Medicine Centre.

 

Professor Palmer was formerly Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at James Cook University in northern Queensland, having worked previously at the University of Western Australia and the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (University of London). Norman has served on numerous company boards and committees, including those of several Cooperative Research Centres, as well as other research centres and consortia.
