S. H. Shah Newaz is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Technology at Murdoch University, Australia. Before joining Murdoch University, he served as a sessional academic at Monash University and CQUniversity, Melbourne, Australia. Prior to this, he served as a Lecturer and later as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Network and Security at Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei Darussalam. He also held an adjunct professor position at KAIST, South Korea, from 2017 to 2022. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2010 and 2013, respectively. While pursuing his Ph.D. at KAIST, he worked as a visiting researcher at Telecom SudParis (TSP), France. After completing his Ph.D., he served as a postdoctoral researcher at KAIST from August 2013 to July 2016.
Newaz has written and co-authored more than 90 publications in prestigious international journals, conferences, and book chapters, including IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, IEEE Internet Computing, Elsevier Computer Networks, IEEE Communications Letters, Elsevier Applied Energy, Elsevier Optical Fiber Technology (OFT), IEEE Access, ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE WCNC, and IEEE VTC. He has also served as a reviewer for Springer Wireless Networks, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Access, IEEE Communications Letters, Elsevier Renewable Energy, International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing, Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications, IEEE VTC, and ICACT. His research interests include energy-efficient passive optical networks, IoT, network function virtualization, software-defined networking, mobility and energy-efficiency issues in wireless networks, local cloud/fog computing, smart grids, and content delivery networks, with a specific focus on protocol design and performance aspects. Newaz is a member of Australian Computer Society (ACS) and an IEEE Senior member.
