Dr Tanvir Bhuiyan

I am a finance lecturer and researcher at Murdoch University with a multidisciplinary background in both engineering and finance. My academic journey began in engineering, which shaped my strong analytical skills and quantitative mindset. Over time, my interests shifted toward finance, with a strong focus on high-frequency stock market data analysis, options-implied volatility, ESG performance, firm risk and financial performance, forecasting models, market contagion, and financial behaviour during crisis periods. My research applies advanced econometric techniques to reveal deeper insights into how ESG dimensions influence corporate behaviour across sectors. I have a strong interest in issues of sustainability, transparency, and governance. As an educator, I teach a range of finance units and am passionate about helping students connect theoretical concepts with real-world financial decision-making. My dual training in engineering and finance allows me to bridge technical and financial perspectives in both teaching and research, and I remain committed to contributing to evidence-based ESG policy, sectoral financial analysis, and impactful academic discourse.
