About me
Dr Taslima Rahman’s research interests are in healthcare financing, health behaviour and inequity, maternal and reproductive health, economic evaluation, mental health, and broader health policy and systems research. Her work draws on applied empirical methods and large-scale datasets to generate evidence that informs policy and service delivery. She has published in Scimago Q1-ranked journals and maintains an active research agenda focused on equity, system performance, and sustainable financing.
Dr Rahman has contributed to national health financing initiatives in Bangladesh, including serving on the advisory board for the Bangladesh National Health Accounts (BNHA-V). She has undertaken specialised training through the World Health Organization and the World Bank on health system strengthening, sustainable financing, provider payment mechanisms, and strategic planning tools. Her policy engagement includes projects supported by the Bangladesh Government and international development partners, including work on health insurance and financing schemes and Universal Health Coverage communication and evidence activities. She has also delivered capacity-building training for officials and researchers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on healthcare financing and economic evaluation.
With more than 15 years of tertiary-level teaching experience, including at Murdoch University since 2023, Dr Rahman has taught Economics and Business units across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her teaching portfolio includes health economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, business strategy, and analytics. Her work in learning and teaching includes curriculum development, interactive workshop facilitation, assessment design, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research.
