About me

Alasdair Dempsey is an Associate Professor in Exercise Science within the School of Allied Health.


Alasdair’s research focuses on understanding the neuromuscular biomechanics behind sports injury and musculoskeletal disease. This understanding is leveraged to develop exercise based interventions to reduce the risk of sports injury, in particular non contact anterior cruciate ligaments in team sport and back injuries in cricket fast bowlers.


Alasdair is currently the Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching for the School of Allied Health and has extensive experience in the development and management of higher education curriculum.


Alasdair received his PhD in anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention at the University at Western Australia. Prior to taking up his position at Murdoch, Alasdair worked as a researcher at The University of Western Australia and Griffith University.
