The Learning and Teaching Certificate is open to all academic and professional staff engaged in teaching or support for learning, including sessional staff, clinical teaching staff, and staff on fixed term teaching contracts. There are two learning and teaching certificates available, the Learning and Teaching Certificate and the Advanced Certificate. Both courses are accredited by AdvanceHE, leading successful participants to one of two AdvanceHE fellowships - Associate Fellow (AFHEA) or Fellow (FHEA). Fellowship is one way to evidence a core proficiency within the Academic Career Framework Proficiency Level for Education. The Certificate is a probationary requirement for new employees with a teaching position at Murdoch University.
The courses engage a blended 'flipped learning' model, requiring online engagement with core content followed by face-to-face active learning workshops held in Boola Katitjin, on our South Street Campus. The workshops also provide practical activities in supporting assessment completion.
The Learning and Teaching Certificate is offered in Semesters 1 and 2. The Advanced Learning and Teaching Certificate is offered in Semester 2 only.
