About me

I am a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and Professor of Psychology at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia, where I serve as Academic Chair of the postgraduate programs in Professional and Clinical Psychology.

My work spans research, teaching, supervision and professional training in psychology. Throughout my career, I have worked across academic and clinical settings, with contributions to psychological assessment, trauma and medicolegal practice, student mental health, clinical training and evidence-based psychological practice.

I have also contributed to the governance and regulation of the psychology profession through service on the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), including as Vice-Chair.

Prior to joining Murdoch University, I was Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Rhodes University.

Earlier in my career, I spent five years within the NHS at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom, where I contributed to the development of low-intensity and brief cognitive-behavioural interventions for common mental health difficulties. Following this, I led the University Counselling Service at Rhodes University before joining the academic department as a faculty member.

Across these clinical, academic and leadership roles, my work has centred on the education and training of psychologists and the application of evidence-based approaches to psychological practice.
