About me
Clare is a dedicated academic professional currently serving as the Academic Chair at the School of Nursing, and previous Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching. With a strong commitment to enhancing educational experiences, Clare is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Clare’s research interests revolve around stress, coping and creating positive change in the Emergency Nursing field, and she is currently a PhD candidate.
Clare collaborates with various departments to ensure the smooth running of the curriculum. Clare is actively involved in developing and reviewing units, ensuring they meet accreditation standards and align with the curriculum. Additionally, Clare supports new academics with probation requirements and oversees the management of student-related matters, including progression and intermission. Clare's role also encompasses operational engagement in events like O week, open days, and career expos, as well as participating in committees and meetings to contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursing program.
Clare is passionate about student support and mentorship. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing programs such as the ASSIST program, designed to help students requiring a third attempt at their units to succeed. Clare's dedication to student success is evident in her proactive approach to addressing common challenges students face, including mental health, financial health, study and time management, and academic ability.
Clare is also a Chapter Leader within the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (WA), where she promotes nursing excellence and leadership. As a Chapter Leader, Clare is actively involved in organising and participating in various initiatives that support the professional development of nurses. She collaborates with fellow members to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in nursing, creating a supportive community for networking and mentorship, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice through educational and research opportunities.
