The Australian Government is committed to providing universal access to 600 hours of preschool for all children, with a particular focus on those from marginalised groups and those experiencing disadvantage. Currently little is known about the participation of children with a disability and children from non-English speaking background in preschool programs in Australia and these children are not routinely captured in preschool data collections. This project is being undertaken for The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) and will draw on existing data sources, including the Multi-Agency Data Integration Project (MADIP), to better understand preschool participation and outcomes for children with a disability and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The outcomes will help to inform the more precise measurement of these cohorts in future Preschool National Collections.
The Murdoch University lead CI, Dr Jahan, conducted data analysis for this project and contributed in reporting the outputs. There will be journal paper from this analysis work as well.
