About me

Science education has great potential for inspiring the next generation of innovators. After teaching secondary Science for over 20 years, I enjoy sharing industry experience with pre-service teachers and linking with community groups. My goals include support for early career navigation of curriculum, to increase awareness of the the environment and encourage culturally responsive understandings of the country they live on. The evolving digital landscapes provide ever changing opportunities to support students in an inclusive classroom culture, there is also the enjoyment of challenges presented with teaching in rural, remote and metropolitan schools.

Environmental education through school curriculum, community interaction and collaboration with traditional custodians is central to investigating concepts such as biodiversity, sustainability and planetary health. The element of 'biophilia' is being investigated by supporting students, parents and teachers in awareness of endemic Australian plants in local communities. Through working with Perth Children's Hospital and Aboriginal Elders as knowledge holders, our projects facilitate more inclusive environmental education activities.
