About me

Joon is a Registered Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology and an Associate Professor of Veterinary Cardiology at Murdoch University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 2013 and completed a joint Master of Veterinary Medicine and Cardiology Residency programme at the Royal Veterinary College in the United Kingdom in 2020. He subsequently became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2021.

In 2026, Joon completed a PhD at Massey University investigating the prevalence and phenotypic progression of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in domestic cats. His research aimed to improve understanding of the diverse clinical phenotypes of feline cardiomyopathy and to inform clinical decision-making and future research.

Joon is an active researcher with strong interests in feline cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias, advanced cardiac imaging, critical care cardiology, and translational medicine.
