2025–2029This study seeks to contribute to national policy discussion on cultural sustainability by offering recommendations for participatory heritage governance. More broadly, it aims to add to international debates on preserving ICH in small countries like Bhutan, where cultural identity, policy, and globalisation intersect in complex ways. It will examine how RAPA negotiates these challenges, and how its practices and policies contribute to sustaining Bhutanese traditional performing arts amid shifting social values and the pressures of globalisation.
