About me

Leon Larcher was awarded his PhD in 2024 and accepted a position as a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Personalised Medicine Centre (formerly Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics), situated within the Health Futures Institute at Murdoch University. Leon's PhD research focused on understanding the intricate effects of genetic mutations within the C9ORF72 gene. His primary focus lies in developing novel antisense therapeutic approaches to treat Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and the development of advanced organoid models. Moreover, he stands as an inventor of a splice-switching antisense oligonucleotide (ASO)(PCT2023903774), C9-PMO, aimed at targeting C9ORF72.
