About me
I am very fortunate to be working with a great team and a dedicated community of professionals with the School of Agricultural Science. Our goal is to develop work integrated learning units (ANS307 and BIO683) to help foster and strengthen the link between university learning and the requirements of industry. The focus here is to give our undergraduate and post-graduate students a good foundation in Biosecurity with student-centred and team-based approaches though authentic learning activities.
My passion is in education, science, and research. More so, using science and our research projects directly to engage and provide our students with authentic learning experiences. Our goal is to help our students to be driven by curiosity, to become passionate about learning, and to one day pursue their own careers in science.
Our research and training in conducted through our NATA accredited ISO/IEC 17025 Postharvest Biosecurity and Food Safety (PBFS) Laboratory. Here, we work directly with our industry partners - Chevron Pty Ltd, Qube Energy Pty Ltd, Dieback Working Group, DPIRD and a number of others - to address their current Biosecurity challenges. Working with industry is highly rewarding and a great opportunity to work with some amazing people.
Prior to this, I have been involved in the design, development and delivery of Physics courses at college (Murdoch Institute of Technology, and Murdoch College) and university. This experience has spanned for over 16 years. My research here was focused in Materials Science and Nanotechnology.
My current research interests lie in the nexus between Biosecurity, Physics, and Analytical Chemistry. I am also interested in Pedagogy and Curriculum with Instructional Strategies and Subject-Specific Teaching research.
