About me
Dr Greig Watson is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology with more than two decades of experience in tertiary education, applied research, and industry engagement. He holds a PhD in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology) from the University of Connecticut, along with master's degrees in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition from institutions in the USA and the UK. He is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and has taught extensively across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in exercise science, health science, and clinical exercise physiology.
He currently coordinates the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology (M1325).
Dr Watson’s research focuses on thermoregulation, hydration, environmental physiology, and recovery. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers and led or collaborated on numerous industry-funded projects across sport, occupational health, and digital health. His early work helped redefine best practices in exercise heat tolerance and rehydration, while his more recent research has broadened to include applied exercise science, technology-enhanced health monitoring, and strategies to support health, performance, and behaviour change across diverse populations.
He is an experienced supervisor of higher degree research students and actively contributes to the exercise science profession through leadership roles, curriculum advisory panels, and national accreditation processes.
